Antre Peaux Bourges

The Usina-son is a rehearsal, recording and musical accompaniment space intended for amateur and professional practices, for all the music groups of Bourges and its area.

Its mission: a support aims to allow amateur or semi-professional groups to practice with the benefit of advice and to join a network logic, in a perspective of professionalization and development. This rehearsal space activates training programs such as theUsina-son on stage.

Space for research, creation in residence, rehearsal in stage condition, artistic practices (workshop): Dance, theater, performance, multimedia.

The Houlocène studio is a true laboratory of experimentation turned towards the challenges of the current choreographic and theatrical scene. It is conceived as a space for bodies in movement in order to accompany the diversity and vitality of today's creation.

Its objective is to strengthen and develop contemporary choreographic and theatrical creation: a place to meet, create, accompany and transmit around the artistic transversalities of the living arts as close as possible to our territories.

With so many bridges between creation residencies, practice and performance, Houlocène has new ambitions for the creation of emerging artists and companies and atypical forms of performing arts.

Conditionally available for theater, dance and performance projects of companies, collectives and artists.

The Transpalette art center allows to deploy a committed and innovative policy questioning the contemporary identity and the state of our world. It favors the production of "in situ" projects conceived especially for the place. The Transpalette is a true hub, a flexible linking of desires, knowledge, experiences of doubt and artistic interventions.

At the heart of the Transpalette's proactive policy are also the issues of transmission and artistic education for all audiences: setting up visits, meetings with artists, making available documents presenting artists and exhibitions, creating a resource center devoted to current events in the visual arts, programs of artistic practice workshops offered by artists, organization of thematic trips in contemporary art led by critics or curators.

"UrsuLaB" is a transdisciplinary laboratory project dedicated to biomedia, located on the cultural Factory Antre Peaux in Bourges. It responds to the urgency, in the face of the ecological crisis, to go beyond anthropocentric visions in order to imagine the co-future between human and non-human life forms. Like the arts, the sciences, especially those of the living, can be the source of necessary changes in lifestyles and policies, as already shown by the approaches of "participatory biology", not for profit, independent of academic or industrial laboratories. The ambition of "UrsuLaB" is to be a prospective arts-sciences-fictions-environment space open to the public, whose architecture, functioning, co-participatory mediation and tools will be developed collectively in connection with the territory.

The Haïdouc gallery was created by Bandits-Mages in October 2000 on the site of Antre Peaux.

In addition to screenings and film events, Antre Peaux offers artists a space of aesthetic freedom and research: the Haïdouc.

This space for video, film and multi-media production and experimentation can be transformed into a medialab, film set or exhibition space.

Approaches that experiment with distribution tools within the creative act are strongly encouraged. Thus, projects that are part of a policy of autonomous and experimental practices, DIY (Do It Yourself) and factories are encouraged thanks to a modular and open conception of the place, as well as to a flexibility of organization based on a capacity of inventiveness and reactivity. Everyone can carry out an individual or collective reflection. Regular programming is offered through invitations to artists and filmmakers.

It is linked to two post-production studios equipped for video editing, sound editing and post-production. Each studio allows artists and filmmakers to work independently or to be accompanied by an operator from the team.

The pedagogical space is dedicated to all the workshops led by the Pod Pollinisation (Artistic and Cultural Education) of Antre Peaux, or by local initiatives hosted on the Antre Peaux. The activities which take place there operate in conjunction with the other Antre Peaux entities: POD Performing Arts and POD Visual Arts.

Public performance hall - contemporary music, dance, theater, performance, video, cinema, young audience, etc.

The Nadir room is designed to be totally in line with inter, multi and trans-disciplinary programming. It is a place capable of hosting a music group as well as a theater or dance company that can use all the available space. It is also a place dedicated to creation for artists in residence, and for groups from the Usina-Son music studios. It favors the accompaniment of current music projects.

In 2020, in Bourges, the associations Emmetrop and Bandits-Mages(1) have not disappeared but created a new entity: Antre Peaux, a name already known for the place where we have the ever-renewed joy of welcoming artists (musicians, visual artists, performers, filmmakers, etc.), researchers, visitors, old and new audiences, and participants in all our activities.

It is a space where a multiple and rich programming of crossings and rubbings is proposed. Antre Peaux is a place where we like to think with and for a radical tenderness(2). Antre Peaux aims to be an appropriable and modular toolbox, an elaboratory of creation dedicated to the accompaniment of projects in the fields of current and experimental music, visual arts, contemporary dance, performance, theater, video and film creation, biomedia and contemporary media.

This DNA, deeply curious and eager for all the great differences, makes this artistic and cultural place a convergence of energies committed to the diversity of tomorrow's artistic scenes, whether they are local, national or international. A multipolar research head, but also a den, a co-participatory shelter for all, a meadow for thinking, one of whose founding objectives is to continue to imagine happy dialogues between creation and the public.

In other words, Antre Peaux is a place, a tool, a factory, a space-time that can be appropriated and modulated to serve artists, projects and audiences. Made of polymorphous energies for a greater diversity of expressions, scenes and audiences of today and tomorrow, Antre Peaux opens the speculative idea of a possible new "era/stage" for emancipating concepts and contemporary practices in constant friction with the here and elsewhere.

Antre Peaux maintains close relationships with many partners including Ensa de Bourges (National Fine Art School of Bourges), a strong historical and current partner involved in the co-construction of many projects.

Antre Peaux is supported by the DRAC Centre-Val de Loire, the Région Centre-Val de Loire, the department of Cher and the city of Bourges. Several projects are supported by the European Commission (emare.eu).
