10:00 a.m. - conference by Pierre-Yves Desaive: “From net.art to NFT art? Emergence of a culture critical of the crypto phenomenon »
This conference will link the critical look that the first net artists could have on the emergence of a planetary digital network, with recent projects that question the impact of blockchain technology.

  • Pierre-Yves Desaive is an art historian specializing in digital media, curator for contemporary art at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, and professor at the National School of Visual Arts (ENSAV – La Cambre, Brussels). Former president of the Belgian section of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) and former member of the Digital Arts Commission of the Ministry of Culture, he regularly publishes in the national and international press. He is the Belgian correspondent for Flash Art magazine.

  • A graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques and a DESS in cultural project management, Isabelle Arvers specialized in new media in 1993. A pioneer in the field of game art in France, she was curator of the exhibition Playtime-la salle de jeux de Villette Numérique (2002), as well as the net.art gallery on “sound games”. Her exhibition and event projects then presented video games as a new language and as a means of expression for artists: Organization of a gameboy music concert at Project 101, Paris, 2004. She wrote for the magazines Arcadi, Amusement, MCD, Digitalarti, Etapes Graphiques and published critical texts on the work of game artists such as Matteo Bittanti or Axel Stockburger. Finally, she published an article on machinimas at the MIT Press in 2010: "Cheats or glitch, voice as a game modification in Machinima", in VOICE Vocal Aesthetics in Digital Arts and Media, Edited by Norie Neumark, Ross Gibson and Theo Van Leeuwen and was interviewed in "Understanding Machinima, Essays on Filmmaking in Virtual World" published by Jenna NG at Bloomsbury editions in 2013. Since 2020, Isabelle Arvers has started a thesis on the Decolonization of art and video games, LARSyS , Interactive Technologies Institute (ITI), Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon (FBAUL), Portugal.

2:30 p.m. lecture by Felix Stalder by videoconference (in English) "From the commons to NFTs: Digital objects and radical imagination

This talk is related to the essay chain published since January 31, 2022 on https://www.makery.info, writing series initiated by Shu Lea Cheang (Kingdom Of Piracy), Felix Stalder (World-Information. Org) and Ewen Chardronnet (Makery).

  • Felix Stalder (1968, Basel) is professor of digital culture and network theory at the Zurich University of the Arts. Her work focuses on the intersection of cultural, political and technological dynamics, in particular on new modes of production based on the commons, the control society, copyright and the transformation of subjectivity. He works not only as an academic, but also as a cultural producer, being a moderator of the Nettime mailing list since 1998, and a member of the World Information Institute and the Technopolitics Working Group, both based in Vienna.   • Obvious is a collective of researchers, artists and friends, working with the latest deep learning models to explore the creative potential of artificial intelligence. They are behind the sale of the first AI work to go through a major auction house. They use their work to share their vision of artificial intelligence and its implementation in our society.

4:30 p.m.: concluding round table with all the participants of the day and questions from the public, moderated by Sandra Emonet (in charge of multimedia projects at the Antre Peaux)
