Two sound entities were gathering on Saturday, December 5, at 9 pm to deliver a live.
QANM Since 2016, the artists Quentin Aurat and Nicks Morrow, respectively active in sound arts and the metal-hardcore scene, have been experimenting long sound performances based on feedback (Larsen effect), analog effects and prepared instruments. This encounter has given birth to QANM (simple acronym of the first names and names of the artists). QANM’s music is dark, minimalist and has to do as much with the context in which it it happens as with the sound itself, as inseparable from the listening experience. Their performances are generally composed of one piece: one unique piece which evolves very slowly, where details emerge when listening through an ability of the body to let itself be carried away by these complex vibrations. In 2019, they publish an eponymous album composed of two long sound pieces recorded live, played loudly in a non-treated acoustic space, respecting a kind of “less is more” strategy. Between harmony and dissonance, the radicality of the QANM project doesn’t leave you unmoved: in line with the dark ambient and industrial music, Quentin Aurat and Nicks Morrow perform with an almost ritual commitment a bewitching, deep and sometimes chilling sound moment.
